Want To Make A Bet??!!

Understanding how to make a bet is not complicated. If you wish to bet, you will need to acquire some basic wagering knowledge.

You may go to any window and make any type of bet. If there is a ten-race program, for example, you can place a bet on any race or on all the day's races at one time. When wagering on a race other than the current race, you must specify which race you wish to bet on. Betting windows are also referred to as "parimutuel windows". A word of caution - please check your ticket and make any changes before you leave the window. If you should discover an error after leaving the window, it may be too late to change your ticket. There are large transaction windows that will accept wagers of $20 or more.

Helpful Hint #1 - If you are not used to betting, go to the window 15 minutes before post to avoid long lines. Helpful Tip #2 - Always have your money in hand before you approach the window. Helpful Tip #3 - Check your ticket before you leave the window. Tellers do make mistakes.

How To Bet

• Step 1 - State which RACE you want to bet on
• Step 2 - State the AMOUNT you wish to bet
• Step 3 - State the TYPE of bet: win, place, show, daily double, exacta, quinella, triple, pick six, or pick nine
• Step 4 - State the PROGRAM NUMBER of the horse(s) on which you want to bet

Horse Sense - Betting Etiquette

Have your horses picked and your bet ready BEFORE you get to the window. If you want to wager a number of combinations, (a straight bet, an exacta bet, the daily double), you may want to write them down before you get to the window, or use at betting card...the other players want to get to the window as quickly as you do!
